Sorry Not Sorry Employee Game

Financial Institution: Peak Credit Union

A gamified employee engagement contest was created using a “Sorry”-style board game concept to drive production activity, referrals, and cross-sell behaviors within the branch.

Participants earned the ability to roll a die based on completing specific daily sales and service activities, including aisle marketing, outbound calls, referral tracking, product presentations, loan applications, cross-sell opportunities, and new account openings. Each activity had a defined value, with a maximum number of rolls allowed per day to maintain balance and consistency.

The game began when a participant rolled either a 1 or 2. Movement across the board followed modified rules, including bonus rolls, penalties for certain outcomes, and interaction with other players’ positions. If a player landed on a space occupied by another participant, the other player was sent back to start, adding a competitive element. Additional “slide area” rules were incorporated to increase unpredictability and engagement.

Progress was tracked using personalized markers placed on a physical board due to space limitations, and a large die was used to enhance visibility and excitement during gameplay. When a participant successfully completed a full circuit of the board, they earned a scratch ticket reward.

Scratch tickets were used as immediate incentives and included both tangible rewards, such as small food or coffee items and PTO time, as well as service-based rewards like performing positive customer engagement actions or simple acts of appreciation toward coworkers and customers.

The program also included a branch-wide incentive where achieving minimum referral and checking account goals resulted in scratch-off rewards for all participants.

The contest delivered strong results, significantly exceeding referral goals, improving call tracking performance, and increasing daily product engagement activities such as appointments and aisle marketing efforts.
