Every Friday, the branch team holds a meeting to review updates, discuss priorities, and align goals for the day. To close the meeting, the team plays a fast paced and high energy game of Spoons.
How the game works
- A standard deck of cards is used along with spoons placed in the center of the table. There is always one fewer spoon than the number of players. Example, if there are 8 players, there are 7 spoons.
- Spoons are placed evenly in the center, so all players have equal access.
- Players are seated or standing around the table.
- Each player is dealt 4 cards and may only look at their own cards.
- The goal is to collect 4 of a kind, either all numbers or all face cards. Jokers are not used.
- One player starts with the deck. This role rotates each round.
- The starting player draws a card, chooses to keep it or discard it, and passes one card to the next player.
- Each next player repeats the same process, always maintaining 4 cards in hand.
- Play continues rapidly around the table as cards are passed and exchanged.
- When a player gets 4 of a kind, they discreetly take a spoon from the center.
- Once the first spoon is taken, all players immediately rush to grab a spoon.
- The player left without a spoon is out for that round.
- One spoon is removed each round, and the game continues until only one spoon remains.
- The final round continues until one player collects 4 of a kind and grabs the last spoon first.
- That player is the winner.
Prize: The winner receives the reward of leaving a little earlier that same day.
