Pay It Forward Board – Support a Small Business

Financial Institution: Service Credit Union

Turn a visit to a local business into an opportunity to support both the business and members of the community.

A branch manager and assistant manager at Service Credit Union used part of a $200 community outreach budget to support Natasha’s Sweets & Treats, a local small business with a unique Pay It Forward Board.

Customers can purchase a food item for someone else and place it on the board. Someone visiting the business who may not be able to afford a meal or treat can select an available item from the board. The Service Credit Union team purchased several items, including meals such as a breakfast sandwich and steak and cheese, and added hearts to the board letting recipients know their item was compliments of Service Credit Union.

Look for a local restaurant, bakery, coffee shop or other small business that offers a Pay It Forward program. If one does not exist, consider talking with a local business about creating a simple way for your branch to purchase meals or treats for others.

It is a simple way to support a local business while sharing a little unexpected kindness with someone in your community.
