Don’t Sweat the Debt

This “Don’t Sweat the Debt” branch promotion used a bright, summer-themed environment to attract attention and encourage conversations about debt consolidation and better-rate lending solutions. The branch décor featured an ocean scene created from wrapping paper on the front of the branch, accented with laminated fish, beach balls, hanging palm trees, and beach toys to create a fun and visually engaging “umbrella of savings” atmosphere.

The campaign messaging, “Don’t Sweat the Debt! Have It Made in the Shade Under Our Umbrella of Savings!” was used to highlight the credit union’s savings, checking, and share certificate rates while shifting the focus toward helping members manage and reduce debt through refinancing options.

Staff used the themed environment to engage members in conversations about improving their financial situation, with a strong emphasis on refinancing loans at better rates. Rather than focusing on deposit goals, success was measured through lending performance tied to debt consolidation efforts.

The lending goal was set at $200,000 for both June and July. Results exceeded expectations in both months, with $254,092 in June and $211,844 in July, demonstrating strong member response and successful lending growth driven by the promotion.
