When disaster strikes, financial institutions can play an important role in helping their communities respond and recover. Following the Spokane area fires, this credit union provided much needed supplies for firefighters and families affected by the fires.

The team donated snacks, drinks and electrolytes for firefighters, along with nonperishable food items through Second Harvest for families in need. They also established a dedicated donation account, giving customers and community members an easy way to contribute through any branch or by phone.

Idea: When your community faces an emergency, look for ways your financial institution can respond quickly. Provide needed supplies, partner with local relief organizations and make it easy for customers and employees to participate in the effort. Sometimes the most meaningful community outreach happens when people need it most.
