Caught Living Our Values!

A recognition idea shared by Amy Tullos, Nuvision Credit Union

What if you made employee recognition a little more fun?

That’s exactly what Amy Tullos of Nuvision Credit Union did with Caught Living Our Values!, a creative peer recognition program designed to shine a spotlight on employees who demonstrate the organization’s values in action.

Inspired by Alaska’s salmon season, Amy turned recognition into a “catch” worth celebrating. When employees see a coworker going above and beyond, helping a teammate, taking ownership, delivering exceptional service, or simply making a positive difference, they can submit a recognition and reel them in!

How It Works

The concept is simple:

🎣 Catch It
Notice someone living your organization’s values through their actions.

🎣 Recognize It
Submit a quick nomination describing what the employee did and the impact it made.

🎣 Celebrate It
Share the recognition with the individual, the team, or the organization.

Amy’s program encourages both peer-to-peer and leader recognition, giving everyone an opportunity to catch someone doing something great.

What Are You Looking For?

Recognize employees who are:

• Delivering exceptional customer or member service
• Helping a teammate succeed
• Taking ownership of a challenge
• Demonstrating accountability
• Showing leadership or initiative
• Making a positive impact in their branch or community
• Living your organization’s values every day

Make It Even More Fun

Amy added a monthly “Big Catch” drawing to give employees another reason to participate. Every qualifying recognition becomes an entry, with winners receiving prizes such as gift cards, lunch, PTO drawings, or other special experiences.

And the recognition itself becomes part of the reward.

A quick story about something an employee did can make someone feel seen, appreciated, and valued.

Make It Your Own

You don’t have to live in Alaska—or have a fishing theme—to use the idea!

Choose a name that fits your culture, connect it to your organization’s values, and determine what types of recognition and rewards will work best for your team.

The important part is to create a culture where people are encouraged to notice the good things happening around them and say something about them.

As Amy puts it:

“What gets recognized gets repeated!”

Employee recognition doesn’t have to be complicated, expensive, or time consuming.

Sometimes, it simply starts with catching someone doing something right.
